Online Turkish lessons for children in Belgium

Belgium has a widespread Turkish community of roughly 250–350 thousand people. In Brussels, Flanders or Wallonia, whether school is in French or Dutch, your child can develop their Turkish at their own pace in live lessons.

Growing up with more than one language

Many children in Belgium hear one language at school, another outside and Turkish at home. The teacher does not set Turkish against these languages; they help it find its own place in your child’s everyday life.

Short, regular and enjoyable

Twenty-five minutes suits a child’s attention on screen. One or two regular lessons a week make Turkish an ordinary part of the week, and the teacher builds each lesson on the one before.

Topics from your child’s world

Football, dinosaurs, a favourite cartoon, something that happened at school… The teacher brings your child’s interests into the lesson, so Turkish becomes not only the language spoken with grandparents but a language for talking about the things they love.

Questions from families abroad

My child goes to school in French. Does that affect the lessons?

No. The teacher plans with your child’s languages in mind and uses pictures and gestures to support understanding.

What device do we need?

A computer or tablet works best. The lesson takes place in a live lesson room in your browser; a working camera and microphone are all you need.

How do lessons differ for younger and older children?

With preschool children, games, songs and picture cards come first. With older children, conversation, reading and writing take a bigger role.
